Merced 165 Pavement Anchor Project

Project Description

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will be performing a pavement anchor project that will restore the roadway, and provide new sidewalks with ADA curb ramps, crosswalks, and Class II buffered bike lanes to improve multi-modal corridor safety, access, aesthetics, and mobility in Merced County on state route 165 in and near Los Banos from 0.1 mile south of Middle Rd (PM 7.00) to 0.07 mile north of Santa Fe Grade (PM 12.14).

Project Benefits

Purpose and Need

The purpose of this project is to improve the current roadway condition and provide new pedestrian facilities with ADA standards and bike lanes. The need of this project is existing distressed pavement conditions, deficient pedestrian facilities and access barriers for pedestrians with disabilities, and lack of bike lanes at various locations within the project limits.
