State Route 70 Truck Restriction

REDDING – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans District 2) advises of a recent change to a portion of State Route (SR) 70 in Plumas County as pertaining to single trip oversized permit loads.

Effective immediately: From the junction with State Route 89 at the Greenville Wye (Postmile 33) to the intersection with Lindan Street in Quincy (Postmile 43.74), a CHP escort is required for all loads exceeding 12 feet wide or 85 feet long and two pilot cars are required on all other permit loads.

This section of SR 70 was recently reclassified as a red category from brown category in response to a recent permit load collision and subsequent analysis of the route.  Pilot car requirements vary by route and are represented in five distinct colors (from least to most restrictive): yellow, green, blue, brown, and red. Updated single trip permit load maps and information for District 2 and the rest of California can be found here.
